March 16 - Burnet elected president of interim government of Texas

March 17 - Constituition of the Republic of Texas adopted

March 27 - Col. Fannin's Texans captured at Goliad

March 29 - Town of San Felipe burned

April 21 - Battle of San Jacinto, Texas Indepedence won

August26 - City of Houston established by the Allen brothers

Sept. 5 - Sam Houston elected President of Republic of Texas

Sept. 9 - Capitol of Texas moved from Houston to Austin

Oct. 3 - Congress of the new Republic convened
